Good Samaritan – Aid Nursing Skill Training

Mother Theresa Charitable Hospital Trust (MTCH) runs Aide Nursing Skill Training to respond to a critical gap in North Karnataka, where families struggle to find trained, reliable caregivers for the elderly, bedridden patients, and persons with chronic illness or disability. With changing family structures, migration for work, and rising life expectancy, the demand for home-based nursing care has grown sharply—yet quality services remain scarce and unaffordable for most households.

This training equips SSLC-pass boys and girls with practical skills in basic nursing care, elderly care, hygiene, nutrition support, mobility assistance, patient monitoring, and compassionate care giving—preparing them for dignified work in home care nursing, hospitals, and care facilities. The program creates local employment opportunities, enables youth to earn a stable livelihood close to home, and ensures better-quality, doorstep care for seniors and bedridden patients.

So far, 20 aide nurses trained by MTCH are successfully employed, supporting their families and living with dignity. The initiative strengthens community care systems while empowering youth with life-changing skills—benefiting both caregivers and those they serve.
