PAUSTIK – A Lifeline of Nutrition and Hope for Tuberculosis Patients

Mother Theresa Charitable Hospital Trust, Kalaburagi, continues to make a significant impact in the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) through its flagship initiative, PAUSTIK – Nutrition Program for Tuberculosis Patients. Recognizing that proper nutrition is essential for successful TB treatment and recovery, the Trust reaches out to more than 80 TB patients by providing specially designed nutrition food kits every month for a period of six months. The program aims to support patients from economically vulnerable backgrounds, helping them regain strength, improve immunity, and complete their treatment successfully.

The PAUSTIK program was initiated by Fr. Dr. Anil Crasta, Director of Mother Theresa Charitable Hospital Trust, with the vision of addressing the nutritional challenges faced by TB patients. Supported generously by individual donors, philanthropists, and well-wishers, the initiative has become a beacon of hope for many families struggling with the burden of illness and poverty. The nutrition kits contain essential food items that help patients meet their dietary requirements during the treatment period.

Since a few months, the program has contributed significantly to improving treatment outcomes. By strengthening the immune system and enhancing the overall health of beneficiaries, PAUSTIK has helped increase recovery rates, reduce treatment interruptions, and improve the quality of life of patients. Many beneficiaries have reported faster recovery, better energy levels, and greater confidence in completing their course of treatment.

Speaking about the initiative, Fr. Dr. Anil Crasta emphasized that combating Tuberculosis requires more than medicines alone. “Nutrition is a vital component of recovery. Through PAUSTIK, we seek to restore not only the health of patients but also their dignity and hope for a better future,” he said.

Mother Theresa Charitable Hospital Trust expresses its sincere gratitude to all donors and supporters whose generosity has made this life-changing initiative possible. The Trust remains committed to its mission of serving the poor and vulnerable through compassionate healthcare and community-based interventions, ensuring that no patient is left behind in the journey towards health and well-being.
