PAUSTIK Initiative Launched to Support TB Patients with Nutrition at Mother Teresa Hospital

Kalaburagi, 17 January 2026: Mother Teresa Charitable Hospital Trust (MTCHT) launched PAUSTIK, a new initiative aimed at providing nutritional support to economically disadvantaged patients suffering from tuberculosis (TB), at Mother Teresa Hospital, Kalaburagi.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Shilpa, Medical Officer, Aurad B Primary Health Centre, who expressed her gratitude to Mother Teresa Hospital and Trust for their timely and compassionate support to TB patients through both medical care and nutritious food. Addressing the beneficiaries, she emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to prescribed medication and maintaining a nutritious diet to effectively combat the disease and recover faster.

In his address, Fr. Stany Lobo highlighted the enormous service rendered by Mother Teresa Hospital over the past one and a half decades, inspired by the example of Mother Teresa and dedicated to the care of the poor and the sick.

Fr. Dr. Anil Crasta, Director of the Hospital, expressed his joy over collaborating with the District Health Office and Aurad B Primary Health Centre in implementing this meaningful programme. He encouraged the patients to make proper use of the nutrition kits for faster healing and to enable them to resume their day-to-day activities at the earliest.

The PAUSTIK programme is being implemented in collaboration with the District Health Office and the Primary Health Centre, Aurad B, to support identified TB patients. While medical treatment is subsidized by the hospital, nutrition kits are provided free of cost for a period of six months. The beneficiaries will be regularly monitored to ensure improved health outcomes and better treatment adherence.

Mother Teresa Hospital and Trust aims to reach out to 300 TB patients with nutrition kits as part of its commitment to combating TB in Kalaburagi taluk.

The Trust expressed its sincere gratitude to all the donors whose generous support has made this initiative possible. The programme began with a warm welcome by Sr. Celine, Administrator, and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Ravi.
